Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is the leading approach to improving developmental delays in individuals with autism. It focuses on increasing desired behaviours and decreasing maladaptive behaviours. ABA addresses the development of skills like communication and language, daily living skills, play and leisure skills as well as emotional and social skills.

A Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) is an individual who holds a graduate level certification in behaviour analysis. A BCBA is required to have completed 1500 hours of supervised experience before receiving their certification from the Behaviour Analysis Certification Board. A BCBA is trained to implement and supervise behaviour analysis.

An assessment is a crucial component of developing a treatment plan that compliments your child’s strengths and needs. The assessment will evaluate many areas of development including verbal and non-verbal language, cognition, emotional and social regulation as well as to assess any interfering behaviours that interfere with overall development.
